stone match his since Silas shows up in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census records and since my mother spoke of "Grandpa Silas" Dad's Grandfather and knew and remembered him and she was not born until 1908 and was not married to my father until Feb. 1924. So he was obviously still alive at that time. Also note that he was orphaned since based upon the 1850 United States Federal Census Great Grandpa Silas (Sylvanus miss transcribed as Syloamy) was living with William and Eleanor (Ellen) Caviness (miss transcribed as Cromp) and Martha Myrick in Chatham Co. NC. [look at the original documents prepared in Sept, 1850 (GGrandpa Silas was born in July, 1846 and turned 4 in 1850.)] He also shows up with this same couple in Prairie County Arkansas in the 1860 census (age 13 now.) His father Sylvanus W. Sr. is buried in the MT. VERNON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH cemetery in Hadley Township, Chatham County, North Carolina. His grave marker shows Silvan Perry and his death as 25 Dec 1846, 5 months after GGrandpa Silas' birth. Russ

Although the documentation I have found (The probate records of Sylvanus Perry from the Oct, 1846 session of the court showing a suit of his executor James Perry, probably the brother of Sylvanus, by his wife Eleanor seeking a portion of the estate for her and sufficient to support them for a year tho no child is named in the probate records; The 1850 and 1860 census reports for William Caviness showing Eleanor as his wife and having a child named Sylvanus Perry living with them have transcription and/or census taker spelling or understanding errors of the names Sylvanus and Caviness but supports Eleanor as GGpa Silas’ mother and that she was previously married to a Perry; The 1850 census also shows a single female with the last name of Myrick, who was probably Eleanor’s younger sister, living in the Caviness household; Peter F Perry’s will naming James and a son that has been transcribed as Persyllas, or Persilas who can not be found in any other records and is probably either a transcription error or an error in spelling, hearing, or understanding by the person the will was dictated and probably Sylvanus; The family traditions of Peter having a son name Sylvanus; The statements to me by my father that his middle name, Sylvanus, was handed down to him from is father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather;) add up to convincing evidence for GGpa Silas’ parents being Sylvanus Perry and Eleanor Myrick but I have not found any documentation that clearly names GreatGrandpa Silas’ parents.

I I have never heard or or seen GGrandma Mary referred to as "Mollie" anywhere except in the 1920 census. Since everything else in that census report matches the earlier census reports I assume it is the same person.

I have found other Perry researchers int his line and we are all trying to put together a link. I also found another researcher who was the brother to my Phillip and he had family that was also in Prairie County, AR.

Notes for Nancy Adeline Rainwater:

I have not been able to find any original docs to support Nancy Menton's maiden name as Rainwater. Family oral tradition does confirm that Mary Naomi Sparks grandmother was named Rainwater (I heard it from my mother) and she was described and black haired, dark skinned and the tradition goes that she was Native American. As it turns out the Rainwater name is not Native American but English however Nancy Rainwater's mother or Grandmother could have been Native American. At the time they lived they were located in close proximity to lands occupied by Cherokee Creek nations and cannot find any original documents to verify their ancestors.

The Nancy Menton married to John M Menton shown in the 1850 and 1870 censuses are the family that moved from Cherokee, Alabama (1850 census) to Center, Prairie, Arkansas (1870 census.) The Nancy Menton married to John S Menton shown in the 1860 census in Florida appears to be the family of the Nancy Menton shown in the 1910 census still in Florida and therefore not related. The Nancy Menton shown in the 1840 census may or may not be related to this same family but as it is located in Hancock, Alabama and does not appear to be the same family as the John M Menton and Nancy Menton of the 1850 and 1870 census as it has a female head of household although it is possible this Nancy Menton could be related to John M who was not yet born in 1840. Unfortunately household members are not listed by name on 1840 census records, only HH.

Notes for Moses Myrick jr:

Mathew Myrick was born in North Carolina. He fought in the American Revolution, from the State of North Carolina. Mathew moved to Wilson County, TN around 1798, (although his family remained in North Carolina for a longer time period.) He then moved to Montgomery CO, TN, then to Stewart CO, TN, and after West TN became available for settlement, Mathew moved to Henry CO, TN, where he died in 1843. This description of where Matthew lived is taken from his Revolutionary War Pension.

Mathew is believed to have been born in Warren CO, NC. He was the son of Moses Myrick. Most likely when Mathew was in Wilson and Montgomery Counties of TN he was making decisions about where he wanted to stake land claims, while he was going back & forth to NC for at least for visits. Matthew is shown in Mecklenburg CO, NC in the 1800 census (in fact, he appears to be shown twice in this particular census, as if perhaps he or one of his older sons, is over-seeing another person's farm. ) Matthew's youngest son, William, was born in NC in 1801. Mathew also stated in his Revolutionary War pension application that his discharge papers were lost when his home burned while he was living on the Catawba River.

Mathew Myrick applied for, and received, a Revolutionary War Soldier's Pension.

Only one son, William, was named in Mathew's will, although Mathew did have other children. William was the son who took care of Mathew in his old age. One other child has been confirmed in Stewart Co, TN records in which John Green is mentioned as Mathew's son-in-law. Nancy Myrick, who married John Green, in Wilson CO, TN in 1808 is another child of Mathew Myrick.

It is possible that Lemuel Myrick, who also settled in Stewart, and then Henry Co, after being in Rutherford, and then Montgomery Counties of TN for a time period... is a son of Mathew, but no proof of this has been found. A group of Myrick researchers who have been attempting to locate proof of Lemuel's father, believe that Lemuel was the nephew of Mathew, and that he was the son of Mathew's brother, William, who moved to Chatham CO, NC.

Two others who are believed to be sons of Mathew were James Myrick (wife Anna) and Moses Myrick, who both claimed land in Henry County, TN early. James was in Benton County once it was split from Henry and Humphreys County. These two mens' names appear are in multiple county records, along with Mathew Myrick and son in law, John Green.

Mathew MAY be buried in what is now called the Claxton Cemetery. This was originally the Myrick family cemetery and Mathew lived in this area of Henry CO, TN, however, the exact location of Mathew's burial cannot be verified, as his grave is no longer marked.

Notes for Moses Myrick sr:

Mathew Myrick was born in North Carolina. He fought in the American Revolution, from the State of North Carolina. Mathew moved to Wilson County, TN around 1798, (although his family remained in North Carolina for a longer time period.) He then moved to Montgomery CO, TN, then to Stewart CO, TN, and after West TN became available for settlement, Mathew moved to Henry CO, TN, where he died in 1843. This description of where Matthew lived is taken from his Revolutionary War Pension.

Mathew is believed to have been born in Warren CO, NC. He was the son of Moses Myrick. Most likely when Mathew was in Wilson and Montgomery Counties of TN he was making decisions about where he wanted to stake land claims, while he was going back & forth to NC for at least for visits. Matthew is shown in Mecklenburg CO, NC in the 1800 census (in fact, he appears to be shown twice in this particular census, as if perhaps he or one of his older sons, is over-seeing another person's farm. ) Matthew's youngest son, William, was born in NC in 1801. Mathew also stated in his Revolutionary War pension application that his discharge papers were lost when his home burned while he was living on the Catawba River.

Mathew Myrick applied for, and received, a Revolutionary War Soldier's Pension.

Only one son, William, was named in Mathew's will, although Mathew did have other

children. William was the son who took care of Mathew in his old age. One other child has been confirmed in Stewart Co, TN records in which John Green is mentioned as Mathew's son-in-law. Nancy Myrick, who married John Green, in Wilson CO, TN in 1808 is another child of Mathew Myrick.

It is possible that Lemuel Myrick, who also settled in Stewart, and then Henry Co, after being in Rutherford, and then Montgomery Counties of TN for a time period... is a son of Mathew, but no proof of this has been found. A group of Myrick researchers who have been attempting to locate proof of Lemuel's father, believe that Lemuel was the nephew of Mathew, and that he was the son of Mathew's brother, William, who moved to Chatham CO, NC.

Two others who are believed to be sons of Mathew were James Myrick (wife Anna) and Moses Myrick, who both claimed land in Henry County, TN early. James was in Benton County once it was split from Henry and Humphreys County. These two mens' names appear are in multiple county records, along with Mathew Myrick and son in law, John Green.

Mathew MAY be buried in what is now called the Claxton Cemetery. This was originally the Myrick family cemetery and Mathew lived in this area of Henry CO, TN, however, the exact location of Mathew's burial cannot be verified, as his grave is no longer marked.
