Perry Family Roots is my Genealogy website. I post stuff about the family tree here.
Be sure to check Site Status for any recent update information.
About the Site Organization
Pages are arranged in a hierarchy. The site is divided into Sections and each Section contains everything on the site in a specific category. Each one has its own Home Page. So these pages are the home page for a Section (or category) in the site. Every page, post, photo, poem, video, attachment etc, everything that is not in the site root is located in just one Section but may also be assigned to/listed in other Sections. So Sections contain pages, posts, photos, etc. and other Sections. AND may be listed in other Sections they are not hierarchically part of but not all pages are the home page for a section/category. The location of the page, post, etc in the hierarchical structure of the site is shown in the PATH (Where am I? ) at the top and bottom of the page. The path shows the current page and all ancestors back to the Site Root. These are links that will take you to the parent, grandparent, etc PAGE in the hierarchy of the site. You can go directly to any page in the site (provided you have access rights to it) by using the page list at the bottom of a page. Whenever you see something in BLUE or UNDERLINED it means a link. Almost all names are links whether in BLUE or UNDERLINED or not but the link won’t be obvious until you move the cursor over it.About the Content
I post articles, photos, documents, and other things previously published by me or others here with links to the originals because of its relevance or because I like, agree, or disagree with it. I created my Family Tree at Ancestry.com, exported it to my computer and passed it through two genealogy applications I have on my computer to create the files you will see. The Family Tree itself is not technically located on this web site and has it’s own menu and file structure. They are not TECHNICALLY a part of this WordPress site at all but I’ve linked the site to them so you can seamlessly move to and from the Tree. Eventually I plan to bring the Tree into the site itself. Some parts of the Tree have already been.integrated into this site.About the Menu
The Main Menu provides a logical way into the site but does not necessarily represent the hierarchical structure of the site. It is at the top of every PAGE on the site. (it won’t be on the pages in the Family Tree.) When you move the cursor over an item in the Main Menu, you will usually see a drop down menu with links to things that you would logically expect to find under such a menu item in a website menu. Not everything on the menus is a page but you will be able to access what is listed on the menu. (The menu at the bottom of the page will not show the drop-down menus.) Check out the links in the side bar and at the bottom of pages also. You can click on an underlined date in the calendar to see the archive of everything added to the site on that date. The archive drop down at the top of the page will show every month in any year (that the site has existed) that had anything added. Here’s a brief description of what you’ll find under each of the Main Menu Items.- Home (Hello World) Is where you’ll start when you first come to the site and where you’ll be taken when you logout or first register.
- About contains important information about the site (including this page)…You should check it especially if it’s been a while since you last did.
